I can’t visit Edinburgh without raving about the incredible food scene. From traditional Scottish dishes to international flavors, the restaurants I discovered were nothing short of amazing. If you’re looking to try a unique local dish, give Haggis a go – there’s even a vegan version! But in this blog, I’m focusing on the best restaurants I experienced in Edinburgh:
Bertie’s Fish & Chips
Hands down, this is the best fish & chips I’ve ever had. I’ve tried fish & chips in London, but Bertie’s in Edinburgh takes the crown. The menu is packed with a variety of dishes, appetizers, and sides, including “Halal” options and a kids’ menu. And I must mention the vinegar – it’s a game-changer. I don’t think I can eat fish & chips without it ever again!

The Larder
For the best breakfast in Edinburgh, head to The Larder. Their menu is extensive, offering everything from Haggis to various omelette styles, eggs royale, and sweet breakfast options. I highly recommend this spot for a delicious start to your day.

Cafe Andaluz
Craving something different? Cafe Andaluz in the Old Town offers the best Spanish tapas and paella. Their tapas are mouthwateringly savory, and the paella is so authentic it took me right back to Madrid. Don’t forget to try their warm churros – they’re a perfect sweet treat.

The Spence
If you’re in the mood for something a bit more luxurious, The Spence is your place. With its amazing interior and classic fine dining atmosphere, it’s a vibe you don’t want to miss. We tried dishes from seabass to crab salads and various sides – all of which were outstanding. Scotland is famous for its seafood, and The Spence delivers it spectacularly.

There are many food options in Edinburgh, but these were the highlights of my short stay. Be sure to try the seafood and shortbread – they’re a must!
Happy Travels!
